J. Scott Shirley

J. Scott Shirley is the founding member of the Popowski & Shirley law firm. He graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California in 1990 and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1998.

Between college and law school Mr. Shirley worked as a roofer. Seeing injured colleagues in pain, without income, on the brink of losing everything, Scott realized working South Carolinians and their families desperately needed representation. His mission became to “Empower the Injured”; putting injured South Carolinians on equal legal footing with the insurance industry.

For over 20 years Mr. Shirley has passionately represented the injured in Workers’ Compensation claims. To keep pace with South Carolina’s drastically changing Workers' Compensation system, in 2016 he underwent training to be a certified mediator so he could better understand the mediation process and obtain better results for the people he represents. Scott is a proud member of Injured Workers Advocates which lobbies South Carolina politicians to protect injured South Carolina Workers.
